NE Cycling CIC – Our Parent Company

North East Cycling Academy is proud to be part of a wider movement to grow cycling in our region – and at the heart of that movement is NE Cycling CIC, our not-for-profit parent company.

Who We Are

NE Cycling CIC (Community Interest Company) was formed to create more opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to engage in cycling – whether that’s learning to ride, commuting, racing, coaching, or just enjoying being active on two wheels.

As a CIC, we reinvest any surplus back into the community. Our mission is to develop cycling across the North East by supporting riders, building sustainable infrastructure, running events, delivering community programs, and championing talent at all levels of the sport.

What We Do

NE Cycling CIC delivers and supports a range of projects, including:

  • North East Cycling Academy – our flagship development program for talented youth and junior cyclists

  • Community Cycling Sessions – from balance bike sessions to learn-to-ride classes and inclusive cycling

  • Event Delivery – hosting national and regional races, grassroots competitions, and skills days

  • Cycling Facility Development – currently leading the management and transformation of Middlesbrough Velodrome into a thriving community cycling hub

  • Coaching & Education – supporting the next generation of coaches and leaders in the region

We work with local councils, schools, funders, and national cycling bodies to break down barriers to participation and ensure the North East becomes a powerhouse for cycling in the UK.
